Cathleen Richardson Bailey is a writer, curator, and self-taught textile, bead and doll artist. She received an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Southern Maine at Stonecoast. She received grants and awards from The Pittsburgh Foundation Advancing Black Arts in Pittsburgh; The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts' Master/Apprentice Fellowship in Traditional Quilting; The Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts; and The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts' Fellowship in Literature.
Her fiber art has shown at the Renwick Gallery of American Art (Washington, DC), among others. Her work has appeared in Shooting Star Literary Review, A & U Magazine, Cake Train, Sage Woman, Word Play Sound, Linden Avenue Literary Journal, and Border Crossing.
Publications include two poetry collections: Split Rock/Cracked Cave and Wild Howling Woman.
She has shared her gift of combining creative writing and fiber art with various organizations including Brooklyn Public Library, Cuyahoga Valley National Park and The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, Artists-in-Education Residency Program.
